Parents in Waymo robotaxi service areas might soon have one less thing to worry about: chauffeuring their kids.

The Alphabet subsidiary is exploring a subscription program called "Waymo Teen," which would allow teenagers to hail rides solo while keeping parents in the loop with pickup and drop-off alerts.

According to the San Francisco Standard, Waymo's survey suggests a subscription price between £120 to £200 per month for up to 16 rides. "We have been exploring the potential for authorised teenagers to access [Waymo] under their guardians’ supervision and have received promising feedback from our research in this area," a Waymo spokesperson told TechCrunch.

Waymo isn't alone in targeting the teen market to boost profits. Uber introduced a similar feature last year, matching teens aged 13 to 17 with highly rated drivers. Parents must give consent and receive notifications about their child's ride status.

With safety and convenience at the forefront, Waymo Teen could be a game-changer for busy families. Imagine no more frantic school runs or missed after-school activities—just peace of mind and reliable transport for your teens.
