World Labs was founded earlier this year by legendary AI pioneer Fei Fei Lee. She received hundreds of millions of pounds in investment instantly and this shows what she's got to show for it.
Showcasing a new idea of 'Large World Models' (LWMs), the idea is to give an AI just one image and let it imagine what the rest of the world looks like. From there - having this 'world model' created within its data, from just an image but within what we humans understand instinctively about the physics of the natural (and man-made) world, it can do so much more than just predict the next frame in a video sequence. It can also create stories and lives in that world, making it far more powerful for the creation of things such as games and property developments.
All this is very new, so don't fret too much about how it's all going to fit into ye olde Property Misdecriptions Act and its descendants. But imagine what it could be like for just one image to conjure a real-world VR walkthrough. Add-in floorplans, other property images and then don a VR headset - before too long, you're going to be able to wander around a property from just a few quality photos.
The future's coming fast. Buckle up.
