Sometimes it's tough to be watching the future of AI unfold. It's undeniably impressive, from a technical point of view. However, from a consumer point of view, it can also be crap - to the point of being actively distasteful.
So whilst we've come some way since last year's truly queasy 'Pizza Hug Spot' advert, we're still not in the place where sustained exposure to AI in a video can be described as realistic. This is progress, however - a video that uses various credible platforms, including Elevenlabs, ChatGPT, Runway and Soundraw, to build a decent audio (if not entirely convincing visuals).
This time next year, it will interesting to compare Pizza Hug with Candy Land and whatever the latest attempt to create videos like this is. On current evidence, it's probably fair to say that things haven't progressed as much as one might have thought it would. But, come on - imagine you were watching this for the first time two years ago - it would be astonishing right?
It's clearly incredible tech, and it's getting better. It is all going to continue to improve - including the rather weird songcraft - in the months and years ahead.
