If you're yet to imagine the potential value of using AI, you're not alone - but you're in a thinning crowd.
Analysis by Reuters has shown that a third of S&P 500 companies in the States mentioned AI in their analyst calls, up from 25% last year. The density of mentions is getting more extreme, too - 3.7 times per call as opposed to 1.8 in 2022.
What the analysis doesn't specify is the tone in which AI is mentioned. One suspects that it's quite excited at present, with opportunities being observed and strategies articulated.
Of course, if Reuters is right that a third of companies are talking about it, that means that two-thirds of companies are not. These are the ones that are most likely to find themselves being forced to talk about it in calls in the near future, when they have to react to that which their competitors are using it for. The tone of these conversations might be slightly more fraught.
