Updated: Oct 29

Midjourney is set to unleash a web tool that allows anyone to edit images using its generative AI.

Imagine retexturing objects and repainting colours with just a few clicks. It's like having a magic brush in the digital realm!

David Holz, Midjourney's CEO, announced this exciting upgrade, which is expected to roll out early next week. But hold your horses; it’s initially available to a select group of users, with both human and AI moderators keeping a watchful eye to prevent any mischief.

The art of editing images with AI is a hot topic. Tech giants like Meta and Google grapple with how to label AI-modified images, while Midjourney is taking steps to ensure transparency by embedding metadata in AI-generated images. However, it hasn’t yet embraced the full provenance-tracing tech, C2PA.

There are concerns, though. Without proper safeguards, these tools could lead to copyright chaos or fuel the deepfake frenzy. Deepfakes are already causing a stir online, with a 900% increase in their creation this year alone. They blur the line between reality and fiction, making it tricky to discern truth from digital trickery.

In the U.S., states are stepping up with laws against AI-aided impersonation, but Midjourney is also taking responsibility. Despite past controversies, it’s implementing filters to curb the spread of deepfakes, especially during sensitive times like elections.

So, property pros and business owners, keep your eyes peeled for Midjourney’s latest innovation. It’s a thrilling leap in digital creativity, but as always, with great power comes great responsibility!
