Microsoft is spicing up Windows 11 with a dash of AI magic!

The tech giant is rolling out AI-powered search for Windows Insiders on the dev channel, introducing a new way to find files using casual language. Thanks to semantic indexing, users can now search for local files as if they’re chatting with a friend. No more rigid file names—just ask away!

This nifty feature is available on Copilot Plus PCs and works offline, thanks to the NPU chips. It’s perfect for those moments when you need to find that elusive JPEG, PNG, PDF, TXT, or XLS file without an internet connection. Initially limited to Windows settings and local files, Microsoft plans to expand the search capabilities to include cloud data from OneDrive.

To get started, users can select which locations to index under Settings > Privacy & security > Searching Windows. For the adventurous, there’s an “Enhanced” option to index the entire machine.

But wait, there's more! The update also brings AI writing tools via Click to Do. With a simple hold of the Windows key and a left-click, users can access context-sensitive menus. The new "Refine" option even corrects grammar, making your writing as polished as your search skills.

This AI search feature will gradually be available to Windows Insiders using Snapdragon-powered Copilot+ PCs, with Intel and AMD support coming soon. It’s available in multiple languages, including Chinese, English, French, German, Japanese, and Spanish.
