Google’s AI Creates Podcasts from Notes

Imagine turning your research notes into a lively podcast with just a few clicks!

Google’s NotebookLM app, an AI note-taking tool launched last year, now offers an experimental feature that generates audio discussions based on your documents. This innovative feature uses AI hosts to summarise your material, make connections between topics, and even engage in playful banter.

The AI hosts don’t just regurgitate information; they bring it to life. For instance, when discussing the invention of the lightbulb, the hosts not only highlighted Thomas Edison’s role but also emphasised teamwork with phrases like “making the dream work.” Their conversational style, complete with modern slang and occasional quirks, makes the content more relatable and engaging.

However, the feature isn’t without its limitations. It’s currently only available in English and may take several minutes to generate a podcast-like discussion. Plus, it’s not always accurate and includes filler content, which might not be ideal for quickly distilling information.

To try out this feature, open a notebook in NotebookLM, select the Notebook guide in the bottom-right corner, and hit Load under the “Audio Overview” heading. Whether you’re a student, researcher, or just curious, this tool offers a fun way to review your notes.

So, why not give it a go and see what the AI podcasters have to say about your latest research? It’s a fascinating blend of technology and creativity that could make your study sessions a lot more entertaining!
