At the Pixel 9 event, Google unveiled Gemini Live, a new voice chat mode exclusively for Gemini Advanced subscribers. Think of it as ChatGPT’s voice chat, but with a Google twist.
Gemini Live allows for free-flowing conversations, meaning you can interrupt mid-sentence or pause and resume later without any hassle. It even works in the background or when your phone is locked, making it super convenient for multitasking.
Google has also introduced 10 new voices for Gemini Live, with charming names like Ursa and Dipper. Currently, this feature is rolling out in English for Android devices, with iOS support and additional languages coming soon.

But that’s not all! Google also announced new extensions for its AI assistant, set to enhance apps like Keep, Tasks, Utilities, and YouTube Music. Plus, Gemini is getting smarter with screen context awareness. By tapping “Ask about this screen” or “Ask about this video,” users can get detailed information, like destinations from travel videos, which can be added directly to Google Maps.
So, if you’re a Gemini Advanced subscriber, get ready to chat away with Gemini Live and explore these fantastic new features!
