Gmail users on iOS can now enjoy a chat with Google's Gemini AI about their emails, thanks to the new Gmail Q&A feature.

Initially launched for Android in August, it's now available for Google One AI Premium subscribers and Google Workspace accounts with Gemini Business, Enterprise, Education, or Education Premium add-ons.

This nifty feature lets you ask Gemini questions like, “How much did the company spend on the last marketing event?” or request a summary of emails about quarterly planning. It can even show unread messages from specific senders. While it currently focuses on your inbox, future updates will allow it to search your Drive too.

The traditional Gmail search bar remains, but the Gemini button now sits beside it, encouraging users to harness AI for finding specific email info. However, free Gmail users might have to wait as Google uses these features to entice subscriptions, potentially boosting revenue through Gemini.

Google is on a roll, adding AI features to its suite, including Google Docs, Calendar, and more. This expansion follows Gmail's revamped "summary cards," which help organise your inbox by tracking packages, setting reminders, and more.

With these updates, Google aims to keep Gmail competitive, especially as Apple rolls out Gmail-like features in its Mail app with iOS 18.
