Amazon has just unveiled the latest version of its Titan Image Generator, now available to AWS customers through the Bedrock generative AI platform.

Dubbed Titan Image Generator v2, this upgraded model is packed with exciting new features designed to elevate your image creation game.

AWS principal developer advocate Channy Yun outlined the enhancements in a recent blog post. Users can now guide their image generation using reference images, edit existing visuals, remove backgrounds, and even create variations of images. One standout feature is the model's ability to intelligently detect and segment multiple foreground objects, making it easier to manipulate specific elements within an image.

“Titan Image Generator v2 can intelligently detect and segment multiple foreground objects,” Yun writes. “With the Titan Image Generator v2, you can generate colour-conditioned images based on a colour palette. [And] you can use the image conditioning feature to shape your creations.”

The new version supports image conditioning, allowing users to input a reference image and focus on specific visual characteristics like edges, object outlines, and structural elements. This can be particularly useful for maintaining a consistent aesthetic, such as a product or company logo.

While AWS remains tight-lipped about the exact data used to train its Titan models, it assures users through an indemnification policy. This policy protects customers in case the model inadvertently reproduces copyrighted material from its training data.

Despite some enterprise hesitancy and the high costs associated with training and fine-tuning these models, Amazon CEO Andy Jassy remains optimistic. During the company’s recent second-quarter earnings call, Jassy emphasised his confidence in the rapid growth of generative AI, predicting that much of it will be cloud-based.

“In the generative AI space, it’s going to get big fast,” he said, “and it’s largely all going to be built from the get-go in the cloud.”

So, if you're an AWS customer looking to up your image game, Titan Image Generator v2 might just be the tool you need!
