Adobe is stepping up its game in the world of generative AI with a sneak peek at its upcoming text-to-video tools.

These new features promise to revolutionise video creation by allowing users to generate video clips from text descriptions and still images, all while adjusting angles, motion, and shooting distances using simulated camera controls.

Building on the Firefly video model demoed in April, Adobe’s latest teaser showcases the tool’s ability to produce high-quality video clips. This Firefly model is set to power AI video and audio editing features across Adobe’s Creative Cloud applications. The new tools will initially be available in beta as a standalone Firefly application later this year, with plans to integrate them into Creative Cloud, Experience Cloud, and Adobe Express.

One of the standout features is the image-to-video capability, which can generate clips from specific reference images. This could be a game-changer for creating additional B-roll footage or filling gaps in production timelines. Although the generated videos are currently limited to a maximum length of five seconds, the quality appears to rival that of OpenAI’s Sora model, which Adobe is also exploring for integration into Premiere Pro.

Adobe’s VP of generative AI, Alexandru Costin, assures that Firefly is "commercially safe" due to its training on openly licensed, public domain, and Adobe Stock content. This could alleviate some copyright concerns that often plague AI-generated content.

Additionally, Adobe previewed the "Generative Extend" feature for Premiere Pro, which can extend the length of existing video footage, similar to Photoshop’s Generative Expand tool for images. This feature is also expected to roll out later this year.

With these innovative tools, Adobe is poised to make video creation more accessible and flexible, offering property professionals and business owners exciting new ways to enhance their visual content. Stay tuned for more updates as these features move closer to their official release!
